It is indeed unfortunate that, for many, the public perception of the supplement industry is that the primary driver for claims about the benefits of supplementation is the maximization of sales and profits. Having been in the supplement industry for almost 30 years, it saddens me greatly to say that this perception, in my opinion, is not without merit.
What can be done to change this perception? While there are probably many ways to answer this question, I feel the best way is for the supplement companies to demonstrate policies that show the public the outcome from ingesting the supplements is just as important as the sale.
What's the best way to do this? For me, there needs to be increased emphasis on situations where supplementation is not in the best interests of any individual consumer. The way we have decided to point out to you and the world that we currently and will always maintain a consciousness that outcome is just as important as the sale, is to feature the phrase "supplement responsibly" wherever we can on our website and company literature.
